Pouring Concrete

Chickaloon Greenhouse

Environmental (Kim Sollien) - The greenhouse has come a long way.  To date we have put in the foundation with in-floor heat tubing and leveled the area around the greenhouse to make it ready for edible landscaping.  We had a team of local volunteers: Ricky Dolfi, Mark Lund, Doug Wade, Larry Wade, Paul Harrison, Tim Harrison, the Sutton Fire Department, Brain Winstaffer, Kim Patnode (from Maine), George Rauscher, and Kevin Johns all gave countless hours to completing the first phase.

Removing Forms

Many volunteers helped with watering the site so we could compact the ground for the slab, hauling gravel to the site, running backhoes, bulldozers, bobcats, dump trucks, shovels, hammers, etc., making runs to town to pick-up supplies, grading the site, putting up form boards, laying in-floor heat tubing, helping to pour and spread concrete, and watering the concrete so it would cure properly.  It was wonderful to see the foundation go in as such a community effort.
