The Justice Director is responsible for overseeing, directing, and supervising staff members of the Justice Department. This position is responsible for overseeing and directing daily operations, personnel, budgets, and funding for the department. Seeks funding as identified in Tribe’s Strategic Plan by submitting grant applications to various foundations, corporations, government agencies; fundraising; and earning income in order to continue existing programs, improve existing program, and expand/create new programs for the Justice Department. Must have or be willing and able to successfully complete the 10 week VPSO course at the Public Safety Academy, in Sitka, that starts January 7, 2013. This is a 40 hours per week position with benefits.
Experience: At least two years of related experience, two years of grantwriting and/or grant management experience, and two years of experience supervising professional-level staff members. (It is possible that someone could have obtained all this experience in two years.)
Education: Bachelor degree in a related field is preferred, but not required.
If the successful applicant does not have a bachelor degree in a related field, they would need at least six years of progressive experience, which includes at least two years of experience as described above. They would also have to be willing to obtain a bachelor degree in a related field. (Examples: Law, Administration, Management, etc.)
The successful applicant must be at least 21 years old and be able to be insured on our vehicle insurance.
